In lesson 7 we as a class will continue our focus on the Revolution by looking at several video others around the world have made and posted on YouTube. Students will examine several video I as the instructor have chosen for them. These videos will have historical information, visual images, and sounds from the Revolution (music performed today). Once we have examined these students will be asked to each pick videos they want to use to represent their own interpretations of the Revolution. Once they have chosen videos we will use Embedr Web 2.0 tool to display these videos in a slide show. The ultimate goal of this lesson is to allow students to express their knowledge of the Revolution through the use of visuals and sounds. I want students to be able to recount their knowledge by identifying the aspects of the Revolution they most connect with. Class Project:
The assignment for this lesson is going to be a class one. Each student will be asked to choose a video or two they feel represents the Revolution. Once students have chosen their video we will put them all together in a slide show by using the Web 2.0 tool Embedr. The goal for this class project is to be able to combine historical stories, visuals, and music. The reason for this and my ultimate goal as a teacher is to be able to give points of reference to the students. I want students to be able to use these videos to create their own personal video in their mind, which will help them to recall the Revolution. By combining music with images, and then a story students should be able to mentally visualize aspects of the War. Below is a sample of Embedr I have created.
This playlist has 4 main features to comprise the American Revolution. The 1st is the story, as told in the 1st video. The 2nd is a video of people speaking emotionally and passionate about the Revolution. The 3rd is a very good video comprised of strong images of artist depictions of the Revolution. The 4th is again the story, only this time the story of Bunker Hill. The 5th and last video is the soundtrack. Now, the whole point of this slide show of Revolution videos is to allow the viewer to finish watching then close their eyes and hearing the soundtrack over again be able to connect the story of the Revolution with the visual the music, and then with their eyes closed visualize in their minds the story as they see, hear, and understand it.
